"I'm
writing to thank you, and others in
Albany whose support and cooperation you marshalled, for the wonderful,
free, long weekend that my wife and I won about a month ago....Like many New York
City folks, my wife and I previously had a somewhat dismissive attitude about Albany,
which we had visited in 2005 for about two hours (on our way back home from the
Adirondack Mountains). Now after four days there (we purchased a fourth day and
added it to your three free days), we have a far more positive impression. We know
that the Albany region is vibrant with cultural events, recreational opportunities,
historical significance, comfortable living, fine dining, and the other advantages
that a medium-sized urban area can bring...without the time-drivenness, noise, and
general stress that seems inevitable when one lives and works in a huge city such
as New York. From a memorable Albany weekend, I'd particularly like to single out...
(1) Bill Hollister of Amtrak
for his gracious assistance and personal reception of us at the Albany train station
(2) The "Duck" Tour
of Albany, which may take place in an ungainly-looking vehicle if ever there was
one, but which was the single event that most transformed our perception of what
Albany has to offer. (3)
The New York State Museum (part of the Empire State Plaza), which has
very fine exhibits on a wide variety of historical, cultural, and even geological
factors that make New York State what it is....This was a long weekend that we will
be fondly remembering." - Thanks to the

charmer!) We were on the second floor of the main house, and our room had a lovely
view that looked
out over the village green."

Woodloch Pines is a great resort that seems to have thought of everything.
The facilities are nicely decorated and the activities were enjoyed by all age groups.
The food was delicious! My kids are very anxious to go back to Woodloch Pines and

things. We relaxed... in our lovely room at the Beekman Arms and we even got a nap!
But the most fun was driving around the Hudson River Valley in our electric blue
