Caylin Sanders, originally from Los Angeles, graduated Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, with a major in theatre and art. Focusing on design and marketing, she worked for DC Comics, Time Warner, Giraldi Suarez Productions and JP Morgan.
In early 2000, Ms. Sanders founded EscapeMaker.com, a guide to local weekend getaways and day trips near New York City. It has been recognized by The Daily News, NBC News, Fox 5 TV, ABC 7 TV, The New York Times, Business Week, Time Out Magazine and The Wall Street Journal as a forerunner in local content. Regular advertising clients include I LOVE NY, Amtrak, Marriott and Metro-North.
Ms. Sanders was honored with a small business award from S.C.O.R.E for her success with EscapeMaker.com and contributions to the tourism industry, and by the New York State Tourism & Hospitality Association for her work as a board member. In addition, she speaks on best E-Marketing practices, packaging and destination promotion to various tourism and lodging associations throughout the Northeast, including the American Hotel & Lodging Association. In 2009, EscapeMaker.com relaunched with a CPC advertising option, themed package section, travel niche articles, improved lodging searches and a "green getaway" self-audit rating system.
In 2010, EscapeMaker received an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences - NY for their spring webisode in a four-part series focusing on the Agri-tourism of New York State.
In 2011, EscapeMaker hosted the first of its kind "Green Getaways, Local Food & Travel Expo" in Brooklyn, NY. The annual Expo features wineries, farms and local destinations and lodgings that are committed to sustainability -- all within a day's drive of New York City or accessible by mass transit. In 2014 and 2015 the site will launch a pop-up store and a shuttle to area events.
Any of these workshops can be combined for
a full day of fun and creativity!
