Greenest NYer Judges
Back to Greenest New Yorker Contest
Kaity Tsui, Greenest New Yorker 2010
Kaity is a born and raised New Yorker who, on the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in 2010, was honored as I LOVE NY's first ever Greenest NYer! Her commitment to sustainability and passion for New York City's environment garnered her the opportunity to extend those efforts to the entire state of New York. She previously served as the MillionTreesNYC Coordinator at New York Restoration Project and stays active in NYC sustainability efforts through volunteer work year-round, when not fulfilling her ambassadorship duties around the state! Follow her blog at greenheartny.wordpress.com.
Executive Chef Matthew Weingarten, Inside Park at St. Barts
A longtime advocate of sustainability, Matt Weingarten brings a strong sense of what he champions to his position as Executive Chef at Inside Park. Since the restaurant opened in 2008, the locavore chef has garnered acclaim for "some of the city's finest Greenmarket cooking" from Time Out New York and food that is "thoughtful, well executed" from New York Magazine. In 2010, he led Greenest NYer Kaity Tsui and greenmarket shoppers through a live cooking demo at Union Square Greenmarket. His fun personality and clear dedication to local food & drink of New York State make it an honor to have him as an expert judge this year.
Kate Sinding, Esq., National Resource Defense Council
Kate is a senior attorney and Deputy Director of the New York urban program at the NRDC. She is a contributing environmental expert to their blog, Switchboard. Her work includes advancing recycling programs for used electronics (e-waste) and ensuring the proposed natural gas drilling in New York State is subject to the most stringent environmental and health protections. She also works on advancing smart growth for communities in the New York region, as well as other waste and land use matters. We are very excited to have a member of the NRDC on our expert judges' panel.
Peter Lindabury, LEED AP, RobsonWoese Inc.
Peter is the primary contact and Market Sector Leader for RobsonWoese’s green building services and is a founding Board member and past two-term Board Chairman of the United States Green Building Council's (USGBC) New York Upstate Chapter. He was the lead (and LEED!) consultant for the beautiful new Conference Center at Lake Placid in the Adirondacks. The center is scheduled to open this spring and anticipates GOLD LEED certification upon completion and will be a phenomenal addition to an important green community in New York.
