Kick off the season with 6 weeks of holiday events for the whole family during Morris County, NJ’s "HOLLY DAYS" – starting with the Christmas Festival on the Morristown Green starting Nov. 27th! Visit a historic site, take in a concert or a theatre performance, or take part in one of the special events below and make a weekend out of it!

December 5th – "Dickensenian Christmas"


Charles Dickens, sometimes called the "Father of Christmas", published A Christmas Carol in 1843. Historic Speedwell recreates one of the most memorable scenes from the book, when Fezziwigs’ Ball is brought to life. Taste a variety of treats, dance to period fiddle music, and meet Old Fezziwig himself as he presides over his annual ball. Peruse the gift shop and visit the Vail Home decorated to the 1843 period. Make a variety of mid-19th Century crafts to take home!

December 5-6th – "Holly Walk "

Macculloch Hall will be decorated for the holidays by the Garden Club of Morristown in the exuberant Regency style of an English country manor.  In addition to period room settings, Macculloch Hall’s gallery exhibits include The Spirit of Thomas Nast: His Life and Legacy, The Original Thomas Nast and Thomas Nast and the American Christmas. Experience two centuries of Christmas customs in a single weekend. Four historic house museums in Morristown will be decorated in styles typifying the times in which they were built. 


Saturday, December 5,  12:00-5:00 pm and Sunday, December 6, 12:00-5:00 pm. A single $15 ticket (children under 12 free) is good for all four sites on both days.  Tickets available soon.

December 6th – "Gingerbread Wonderland"


Visit the Frelinghuysen Arboretum where the smell of sugar greets guests as they enter a kingdom of imagination, creativity, and candy! Plus, the Whippany Railway Museum invites all aboard for the Santa Claus Special weekends from December 2nd- through 16th.

The Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township, NJ . 9:30am – 5pm, open till 8pm on Friday. $1 per person suggested donation. Groups over 8 make reservations. Call 973-326-7601 for more info.
