Give a Finger Lakes Gift this year!
Dear EscapeMakers — We all know the holiday season is "the most wonderful time of the year." However, it can also be a rather stressful time for some. It can be a painstaking task to come up with fresh ideas for gifts. But never fear! When you’re in the Finger Lakes, you don’t have to come up with a mundane gift to give, simply for the sake of giving it. Here, you can find unique treasures that anyone on your shopping list is sure to cherish.
Why not start at the Holiday Family Festival: A Tradition of Arts & Crafts on November 19? This annual event held from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Corning-Painted Post East High School has a little bit of everything. "We are excited to have products including jewelry, photography, hunting accessories, bath & body products, alpaca fiber products, holiday inspired wreaths, garlands and decor, gift-style food items such as German roasted nuts and gourmet chocolates," said Molly Mulligan, manager of events for the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce. "Basically, something for everyone on your list – and a little something for you too!"
Want to have a fantastic winemaker’s dinner after a long, hard day of shopping? "A Taste of France in the Finger Lakes" will not only feed you five courses, but give you great gift ideas as you taste different Ravines Wine Cellars wines. Held at Suzanne Fine Regional Cuisine in Lodi, hors d’oeurves will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner. Owners and winemakers of Ravines will be on hand to guide you through the evening. For details, call 607-582-7545.
If you still need more for that wine enthusiast in the family, how about a gift-wrapped bottle of Dr. Frank 2009 Rkatsiteli, Salmon Run 2008 Meritage, and Chateau Frank 2006 Blanc de Blancs for only $49.99? If you’re looking for a Thanksgiving special, Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars is offering a gift-wrapped bottle of Dr. Frank 2012 Gewurztraminer and Dr. Frank 2008 Pinot Noir for $29.99.
Spend your holiday shopping weekend at the Radisson Hotel Corning. Whether you’re going to the Holiday Family Festival, or enjoying a Crystal City Christmas weekend (November 25-27 or December 2-4), you’ll be able to walk to all the great activities in Corning’s Gaffer District.
Whatever you do, coming to Corning & the Finger Lakes is a sure way to get your holiday shopping season started right. With fun festivals and unique treasures, this year’s shopping experience will be better than ever!
