Dragon Coaster at Playland in Rye, NY. I get a vote, because I write the post! Another vintage classic, this wooden coaster is one of several original rides within this historic amusement park which opened in 1928.
El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. “The bull” features the steepest drop of any wooden roller coaster in the country at a record-breaking 76 degrees. The Coaster Critic gives it two thumbs up!
Kingda Ka, also at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. It’s the tallest, fastest roller coaster on Earth, zooming from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds and catapulting you 45 stories into the sky.
Bizarro at Six Flags New England in Springfield, MA. Travel 77 mph in new coaster cars with audio in the headrests, twisting and turning through fog and fiery flame effects. This is on Arthur’s list; he’s the About.com roller coaster guru.
Predator at Darien Lake Resort in Darien Center, NY. The tallest wooden coaster in New York State. Our friends at I Love NY tell us it’s rated the best wooden coaster in the world!
The Ride of Steel, also at Darien Lake Resort in Darien Center, NY. This high-speed steel hypercoaster exceeds 70 mph and drops you 205 feet! Thanks to Genessee County for the recommendation!
