“ Agri-Tourism Webisode Nominated for Emmy Award”

The 2010 New York Emmy® Awards nominations were announced on Thursday, February 25, 2010 and’s “Tastes of New York” Spring episode of their web-based series was nominated in the informational/instructional category.

Launched in 2000,, which profiles local getaways and day trips within a day’s drive or train ride of New York City, was born out of a need to get out of the city without a car. “Over the years, we’ve added more destinations to the site, but with the production of “Tastes of New York State” we get the opportunity to bring them alive and inform travelers that “green travel” exists right in their own backyard,” says Caylin Sanders,’s president.

Produced, written and directed by the award-winning team of Holly Faison and Dean Bell of Factory Films, “Tastes of New York State ” focuses on the agri-tourism of New York State including farmers markets and restaurants. Series host and enthusiastic foodie Marissa Copeland, informs travelers about “green getaway ideas”, New York hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants and attractions along the way. “We are so excited that the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is recognizing new media and very honored to be included among the nominees” says series producer Holly Faison.

Along with New York State partners from the Greater Niagara Region, Lewis County, Madison County, Dutchess County and the Town of Southampton, the series also highlights local culinary treats, pick-your own fruit farms and orchards, wineries and agri-tourism related special events and festivals across the state. In addition, like, the series encourages environmentally responsible modes of transit like Amtrak, Metro-North and renting hybrid cars.

Made possible with a grant from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and additional matching funds, promoted “Tastes of New York State” on its website and through social media channels and consumer travel tradeshows. Sanders comments, “we chose Factory Films to produce the series because Dean Bell’s script expertly wove New York State history, fun facts and attractions in and around the best epicurean experiences from all corners of the state, and host Marissa Copeland was the perfect ambassador to engage our audience. We are very proud of this production and so honored and humbled to be nominated.”
