Dear EscapeMakers,

It’s finally spring. The sun is out. You should be too. It’s time to loosen up with a little horsin’ around, a handful of peanuts and crackerjacks, and a splash of water sports!

Saddle up for horse shows galore at the New York State Fairgrounds this spring! Check out the list of parading pony and marching mare events: the 37th Annual Empire State Arabian Horse Association’s All Arabian Spring Show, May 1 – 3; the Bridle Path Manor Hunter & Western Horse Show, May 8 – 10; the New York State Pinto Horse Association Show #1, May 9 – 10; and the New York Horse Breeders Association Horse Show, 1st Division, May 14 – 17. Bring your family to "ooh," "ahh," and "neigh" at all of the beautiful prized ponies.

Gallop on in to the Alliance Bank Stadium and tie your horse up to a post for a Syracuse Chiefs game, AAA affiliate of the Washington Nationals. You know summer’s just around the bend when you can smell it — what does "it" smell like? Why, plump and juicy hot dogs sizzling at a baseball game, that’s what. For cheap thrills, try the Syracuse Chiefs’ "Entertainment Bailout Plan" for deals, dogs and discounts all season long!

So you caught a fly ball — big whoop. How about a Carp? Well, watch the experts reel ’em in at the 3rd Annual American Carp Society Northeastern Regionals Carp Tournament in Baldwinsville, May 12 – 16! Keep the water sports flowing with the Hobie Cat Mad Catter Regatta, the 2009 Northeastern Championship, at Oneida Shores Park, May 15 – 17. Make a weekend of it and camp out onsite! Amp up the racing, and experience high-speed, riveting action at the 2009 Toyota US Open of Watercross at Onondaga Lake Park, May 30 – 31.
