August and September are an ideal time to visit the Finger Lakes of New York State. Daytime temperatures usually range between 70 and 80ƒ with nighttime dropping into the 60s.

Picture sitting around a campfire at the edge of a lake with family and friends after a day of visiting exciting historic attractions such as Genesee Country Village, The Women's Rights National Historic Park or the Corning Museum of Glass. Maybe a visit to some of the 70+ wineries is more to your taste, followed by an exceptional dinner featuring Finger Lakes cuisine and ending the day with an outdoor concert.

Bike the back roads and trails that offer outstanding vistas of lakes, waterfalls, and farm lands or hike the trails in one of the 25 State Parks that dot the region. Watch mechanical grape harvesters reap the crop that our vintners will turn into the outstanding wines of the 2002 season. Visit the Windmill Farm and Craft Market on Saturday.

As summer turns into autumn, the landscape takes on the glorious reds, golds, yellows and russets that herald the harvest season. Roadside stands feature squash, pumpkins, cabbage, apples and grapes and grape pies. Harvest festivals and fall foliage train rides and cruises offer you a whole new view of the Finger Lakes.
