Kent
Introduction
Less than a quarter of a mile from the Appalachian Trail and the Housatonic River, Kent is any nature-lover’s dream.
Almost everything is accessible by foot in this romantic village that lies nestled between green fields and rolling hills.
It’s only after you walk the 1/4-mile Main St. that you appreciate Kent’s small-town charm. Boasting a population of only 3000 inhabitants, Kent is extremely neighborly. Outside the library, for example, we saw books sitting covered in plastic for the next day’s book sale, unguarded. Traffic halts at the one traffic light in town, and every day at noon you can count on the fire horn blaring. (We thought the world was coming to an end—it's really that loud!)
Kent makes for the perfect romantic weekend or active daytrip. There are endless shops to browse and roads to explore by bike. Meanwhile, the Appalachian Trail is so close it makes Kent the perfect pit stop.
