CONNECTICUT
With its home port at Long Wharf Pier, in New Haven, the freedom Schooner Amistad is a re-creation of the historic vessel made famous as a result of the Amistad Incident of 1839. The Amistad visits ports nationally and internationally as a floating classroom and monument to a major moment in the African American struggle for freedom.

NEW YORK
The discovery of the African Burial Ground in lower Manhattan in 1991 was one of the most momentous finds ever for the world of African American heritage. At that time the largest and only known urban pre-Revolutionary African cemetery in the country, the site was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1993. Today, you can visit the African Burial Ground at 290 Broadway (between Duane and Elk Streets) as well as participate in a number of related educational events and activities.
